Ingredients:

  • 250 grams Soya Chaap
  • Refined oil or any cooking oil
  • Medium-sized onions, sliced lengthwise
  • Garlic cloves
  • Ginger pieces
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4-5 cloves
  • Few black peppercorns
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • Garam masala
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Preparing Soya Chaap:
  • Take 250 grams of Soya Chaap and cut it into medium-sized pieces.
  • Heat a pan and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add the Soya Chaap pieces and fry them until they turn golden brown from both sides.
  • Once fried, remove the Soya Chaap pieces and set them aside.
  1. Preparing the Paste:
  • In the same pan, add sliced onions, garlic cloves, and ginger pieces. Fry them until they turn golden.
  • Once done, remove them from the pan and let them cool.
  • Grind the cooled onions, garlic, and ginger into a smooth paste.
  1. Making the Gravy:
  • In the same pan, heat some more oil. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, black peppercorns, and black cardamom. Let them crackle.
  • Add the prepared paste to the pan and mix well.
  • Now, add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, and salt to taste. Mix these spices into the paste.
  • Cover and let the spices cook on low flame for a while.
  1. Final Steps:
  • After a few minutes, check the spice mixture. Add water gradually to achieve the desired consistency of the gravy.
  • Once the gravy starts boiling, add the fried Soya Chaap pieces and mix well.
  • Add some crushed kasuri methi and garam masala to the gravy. Mix well and cover the pan. Let it cook on low flame for a few more minutes.
  1. Serving:
  • Your restaurant-style Soya Chaap is now ready. Serve it hot with naan, roti, or rice.
